16ga A Grade and the Kansas pheasant opener
My one bird for a 3-day hunt (I did claim half another but that's another story); I fired a grand total of three shells in three days. Birds are scarce out our way! I tried to order some RST's but they were out of stock; fortunately our good friend Twice Barrel had gifted me a box of his handloaded 1oz papers and they worked just fine, though I did dirty the left barrel on this fella...

Nice photo, Fin. The California pheasant season opened last Saturday. I also use a 16 gauge for pheasant, but my black lab Mandy only found 5 hens! Jim
Goodbye Mandy, once in a life time hunting dog. I miss you every day.

I have no problem with dirty left barrels for pheasants, very well done! One barrel gets dirty on the birds' way up, the other on their way down if they're still kicking. A friend and I lost a rooster last week; he dirtied both barrels and I had one shot (Browning Auto-5) for my part, the bird went down but we didn't find him in the tall grass. Next rooster, one good shot by Gene got a bird in the bag. Much preferred way to do things, nobody likes having a wounded bird get away.
Beautiful gun and bird, Fin.

Now that is class. Nice way to start a relationship with a new gun. I don't think I have ever parted with a gun that I have "bloodied".
