I was reading over nice shot's website and noticed that with larger "duck sized" shot they recommend more open chokes. From their test patterns the IC patterned best.
Have any of you with long barreled, tight choked foxes patterned nice shot loads? How did they look? I may try taking devoting ducks with my skeet and upland until I track down a decent "waterfowling" fox that I can afford.
So who's actually patterned their foxes with nice shot?
Nice shot and choke pattering?

I have a W&C Scott 10 gauge thats tight and tighter . I had been planning on getting some nice shot to kill a goose and a duck or two . But based on your question I now don't know about my idea !

Re: Nice shot and choke pattering?
The non-tox shells sold by RST are all loaded with Nice shot, with no cautions on use in this or that gun, nor with any choking restrictions. Just sayin .....
I've loaded plenty of Nice in 12 gauge shells at relatively high velocity for Super-Foxes both 2-3/4 and 3-inch, and guns with original heavy choking will usually perform > 80% with dense centers. In fact I completed a patterning study using several guns just this past summer but you'll have to wait to see it in print. Yup I have access to pressure testing equipment. Just a note, I am not a ballistician and will not provide loading/component data either here on the site, or privately by PM or email. I've done the latter a couple of times now and somehow the data got out to other people with my name attached to it despite promises it wouldn't. Nuff said.
If anyone has original #4 Nice shot (as made in the far east and sold by Precision Reloading) for sale in the 1 kilo boxes, please send me a PM with number of boxes and price wanted. #4 -shot only. Silvers

Re: Nice shot and choke pattering?
Just to clarify I didn't mean to imply niceshot was unsafe in tightly choked guns just asking about patterning experience.
I just ordered 1kilo of 4 shot. Still shown in stock

I loaded some #4 Nice Shot for a Ithaca Mag 10 double 32 inch full and full barrels Last year. Recipes out of the mighty 10 book from Ballistic Products. 1.5 oz and 1.75 oz the patterns were a little
better on paper with the lighter weight loads. Both loads took geese at 30 plus yards. Sorry but I have not loaded any smaller gages yet . I did manage to drop a couple of these expensive rounds through the bottom of the blind into the water though like watching a tenner go swimming

Re: Nice shot and choke pattering?
Well I ordered some 4 shot and When it gets here in a few days I'll load up and pattern a few different chokes. Unfortunately I don't have a long barreled tightly choked fox YET. A member here had a beautiful 32" steely for sale at the vintagers unfortunately It's a bit out of my reach at the moment.
I'll post results when I get to pattern them.
