Depressing day browsing

Post by Ithaca33 »

I poked around a few gun shops yesterday with a friend looking for nothing in particular but I found a Philly era sterlingworth with a poorly repaired broken wrist and 1/2" cut off the barrels. They had not bothered to fill the joint either so the rib was starting to Seperate. I also found a nice little 20ga Ithaca that someone had forced a sterlingworth forearm onto (epoxied the original forearm iron on the sterly wood) It was pretty cheap and if they'll take a reasonable offer I may go back for it and try my hand at stock making lol.

Just before I left up high on a wall I saw a familiar frame profile. I asked someone if I could take a look at the fox hanging on the wall and he just reached up and flipped over a tag that said "not for sale".

I guess it's like fishing, you have to try but you don't always land the big one...

Coincidentally I didn't catch anything while fishing this morning either :-)

My strong advice Ithaca33 is to plan on spending at least one day up at The Vintage Cup this September. Mark your calendar now or it will never happen. More details forthcoming on the forum. The dates are Thur. Sept 26th-----29th. Trust me, it will prove to be the best Rx for your 'depression!!'--------TOOL
On the whole....I'd rather be in Philadelphia....

I've been trying to work that out for months! "Unfortunately" I'm taking the first 10 days of October off to hunt in northern New Hampshire and I'm not sure I can get much more time off. I don't live far so I may run up for the day Saturday or Sunday.

Happy hunting to all who make it up there!

I hear you. I have no right to complain. I'll be in Colorado elk hunting during the peak ofthe rut. A trip 5 years in the making.

Bow or gun? I recently watched Gordon Eastman's "High, Wild, and Free" on Netflix. The scenes with the elk were epic.

Bow. We will be bugling and moving to get in position. Last time out I ambushed one at a watering hole that I cow called in with a Hootchie-mama.

This time it should be all bugling at the peak of the rut.

Spectacular, ROMAC! To attempt that during peak rut is one of those goals on my bucket list. Just like calling gobblers....only a wee bit larger!! I can only imagine the rush when that 'hat-rack' comes strolling-in, buglin', panting and looking for his Madame. Especially when you're eye to eye with him on the ground!! How do you spell, ADRENALINE???
Good luck and please share some pics when you return.-----TOOL

I'd like to hold our for a more mature one than this one, but we'll see.
