Re: What does the Factory Letter look like?
Here's one of mine:

In my experience, the later the gun the less information you're likely to get. Plus, I imagine there's a lot more information available on graded guns than on Sterlingworths. I suppose if there was something unique about the gun it would show up, but my letters all seem to be simply copied from the standard specs. For instance, my gun actually weighs 6-1/2lbs, the drop at heel is 2-5/8", and the left choke measures IM rather than modified. I specifically asked about the Hawkins pad on my gun and Mr. Callahan did address that. I have letters on all my guns and I'm glad I have them; they're interesting bits of memorabilia, but as for information there's not much there.

Thank you very much. I am very interested in seeing mine in the next month or so.
I have tried almost all the brand name guns over the past thirty years and am fasinated with the 1933 Fox Sterlingworth
that I recently purchased. When I purchased a 280E SKB Ithaca I thought that was the be all to end all of my gun searches.
But when I handled the 20ga little Fox I had to have one to hopefully end my days and forward it on to my grandson.

Yep; I have a similar Sterlingworth 20ga. It's a sweetie! Good luck, and enjoy yours.

Re: What does the Factory Letter look like?
Both Roe and John have regularly made that error of putting down 3-inch drop-at-heel for Savage-era Fox-Sterlingworth Brush or Field guns. During the Philadelphia years the catalogues gave a 3-inch drop-at-heel for the Sterlingworth Field and Brush and a 2 3/4 inch drop-at-heel for the Standard and Trap. All the Savage-era Fox catalogues give 2 3/4 inch drop-at-heel for Fox-Sterlingworths in all barrel lengths. I once complained to one of them about that and got a redone letter.
