New to me FOX

Post by MarkA70 »

I live in Midland, TX. We shot a lot out here, had one of the biggest shoots in Texas on Friday, what we call the Bad Boy Blast, 1200 shooters. We had a gentelman with several shotguns from an estate, Fox, Parker, LC Smith. I examined and purchased what I believe to be a Grade CE w/ 28" Krupp weight 3 barrels. The engravings on my gun and the pictures of the early model CE's on this site are identical. Have sent off for the Factory Letter and determined by SN that my gun is a 1911 manufacture. This gun is pristine, used but excellent shape, no rust, very clean, barrels patched white.

Other than pictures is there any way to exactly know the grade? What would you expect the value of a 1911 Grade CE to be?

Thanks!

There should be a Letter stamped on the water table, in this case a "C".

The water table is the area on the reciever that you lift the barrels off of when you break the gun down. The gun's serial number should also be there as well. Sometime's the letter is missing though.

Hope that helps. If you can post pictures someone will let you know, I'm sure. Lastly, if you order a lookup of the factory card it most likely will positively identify what grade it is plus give you most of the factory original details.

Looked on the Water table and recorded all info, no Grade Mark, in fact the Fox Proof Oval, has only the word proof with half the oval, dunno if not well struck or worn, thinking not well struck as the gun does not evidence that much wear. The SN is there (and 3 other places). Thanks, I will use my card, sent in my money, have not heard back from the folks running the show about my membership.
