AH Fox early BE questions

Post by Tom Wheaton »

Hello all. I bought this gun a little while back. Its serial # 13,847. I am just wondering how common or uncommon it is to have a straight grip with 32" barrels choked full and full. This gun is all original, but well used. I usually associate English style grip with shorter barrels. What do you think? Thank you, Tom

Tom, welcome to the forum. We don't have an exact count but it seems < 10% of graded Foxes were made wih straight grips - which I greatly admire and try to specialize in. The straight grip well complements the profiling on the sides of the frame, imo. With that configuration (32-inch/straight grip/tight chokes) your gun was probably ordered for waterfowl or as a trap (inanimate targets) gun. It could have been for live birds too, but often 30-inch barrels and a slightly more open choke in one barrel were the preferred setup.

Tom, sounds like a really neat Fox. BE's are fairly scarce in the first place, 32" barrels scarcer. straight grip scarcer....nice combo. Would enjoy seeing some pictures.

Hello and thanks for the replies. My gun is well worn, but the barrels are without dents or pits. I will try to get some pics of it soon. Tom

All Foxes should be made with straight grips and 32" barrels, but few are. Order a card copy to see who is the smart shooter who ordered your gun.

Hello. What's the best way to order a card? Thanks, Tom

Here you go Tom. BTW, we'd sure like to see some photos of the gun. Mike
