Wood grades
The CSMC Fox catalog shows what appear to be C, X, D, and F grade guns on the covers (bottom to top here) and within the pages , and for those of you who have looked it over do the stocks on the respective grades appear to be standard or upgrades? I'm told the XE is wearing Exhibition grade wood, but it looks about right to me, shading maybe to the D grade more than the C. Am I off on that estimation?

Re: Wood grades
I ordered a XE in 1997. At that time you could specify the color and grain pattern you wanted within the grade of wood you ordered. I upgrade to grade three and requested a light wood with a dark "marble cake" grain and that's exactly what I got. Craig

Re: Wood grades
Interesting beavertail on the lower gun. Wasn't aware that was even an option on the Galazan Fox gun. They have some nice lumber for them with no doubt. Wonder who their source is.

FWIW...babbling on about nothing...I'd group the upper 3 together as some grade above the C.
While I might be willing to pay a couple hundred more for one of those 3 based on firsthand inspection, I certainly wouldn't pay for an upgrade sight-unseen if there's a price difference amomg them.
As to the beavertail...I don't care for the way the top line is not parallel to the rib. The "upward tilt" hurts my eye. I recently became aware of that nuance when looking at 70's era Perazzi TMI trapguns. When I rstocked my own, I corrected it.

Beware the man with one gun...he likely will bore you to death in others ways, too.

Had not noticed that Mike. Yep, that does look pretty weird. Even my Sterlingworth with the factory beavertail doesn't cant up like that.mike campbell wrote:FWIW...babbling on about nothing...I'd group the upper 3 together as some grade above the C.
