New here with old Fox

Post by shadycon »

Hi from the Blue Ridge Pkway; I started looking for info on my old Fox and found this site. I purchased it over 30 yrs ago becuse I got tired of hunting with an M1 Carbine in Fla. Most everyone used shotguns in the scrub. Anyway I guess you would like to know what I got. From what I can tell it is a A H Fox Sterlingworth, Model 1911is stamped under forestock. All matching ser. #'s, 58xxx. My guess is manuf. date 1911 or 1912. Stocks are in great condition,no cracks and tight with correct checkering. It has been blued,a deep blue, before I got it. The 30" barrels are perfect with full-full chokes, and auto ejectors. I'll try to post pics later as time permits. GK

M1's ARE FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Shadycon,

Welcome to the Fox site. I think you'll like it here.

Just to help you date your Model 1911 Sterlingworth, I have a M1911 with serial number 57979 that was shipped from the Fox factory on October 24th, 1911 according to a letter from the Fox Historian John Callahan. Just a guess when yours was shipped without a factory letter as they were not necessarily shipped in sequence but this might give you a general idea.

Kinda neat that your 1911 has ejectors. Not too common on Sterlingworth's.

Hope this helps.

Jolly
