You mention your 27" XE is a 20ga...what gauge is the 25" XE that you sold to your friend? Great info.

The previous post was focused on 20 gauge guns. I would guess that the 16ga. records would present a similar picture of the amount of short guns produced. Now that there are records in the public domain, it only takes time to do the statistical studies.

So if I might come upon a 24 or 25 inch barreled Fox and it looks right, it just might be.
