Fox Model B Manufactured Date

Post by Draftmaster »

I've tried to look for the circled letter and number, but mine only has a diamond shaped stamp on the frame. There are a few circled letters on the frame under the left barrel, but none seem to follow anything I've been able to find on here to date it's production. The gun was made in Utica.

Attached is the pic where I believe the letter and number should be.

Thanks for any help.

If your gun is marked Utica it is 1940 to 1946, with a few years out for the World War. By 1947, Savage consolidated their gun making operations at their old Stevens plants at Chicopee Falls, Mass. The circle with a letter for year started in 1949 with A.

Those circled letters on the various parts are some kind of production numbers or batch numbers I think; nothing that pertains to dating the gun.
