Re: Sandy
Thank you Bill. The storm tracked south of us. Rain in sheets and heavy winds here in northern PA but no power outage at home. A few trees are down in our woods and the flagpole on our sugar shack is broken. Wind has died down; we have light rain this morning and the ground is saturated. One of our sons a little north of Phila also reports power is on and no real damage to his and neighbors' homes. PA local TV reports show significant damage and power outages south and east of us. Re: Sandy
Glad your power is back Parker-16! It has been a rough 2 years for us Nutmeggers but nothing like what the folks in lower NYC and NJ are now enduring. Below are a few pics snapped last week when the wife and I took a ride to check 0n Sandy' aftermath at a quiet little beach community on the SE coast of CT. It's a place near/dear to me, as I spent my summers there, learning the fine arts of Fluking, Top-water plugging for blues and stripers, lobstering, eeling, blue-crabbing, outboard motor repair, water skiing and of course, pursuing many hi-grade, tightly choked ( bikini clad) Foxes!!!
While structural damage was no where near the likes of "Carol" or the Hurricane of '38...it was incredible to see that 6 to 8 ft of beach sand was literally moved 200 yards to the North!!! That's a road in front of those cottages, that after 12-16 hours of heavy wave action, turned them all into beach-front properties!!! Kind of makes you wonder why anyone would waste time filling sand bags!! Nothing that a few dump trucks and a couple of D-8's can't put back into place but it does reinforce the age old adage: "Don't screw with Mother Nature..."

On the whole....I'd rather be in Philadelphia....
