I can at least speak for Galazan's Parker straight grip guard. They advertise it as a direct replacement and it is anything but. It is shorter, different contours and closer screw spacing. Fine for a custom job from a fresh start, but would never work as a replacement on an original stock.
I think many of his other guards are rough cast too.

Jim,Dembart Stock and Checkering Oil and i like Tru Oil.
