Forend lever opening

Have a Ansley H Fox made in 1905, believe it is an A grade. Forend lever opens when shooting low pressure, under 6000, reloads.

Appreciate opinions on a fix.

Lever spring is weak or broken or you need tip of lever welded to add 1/8 inch or so of length to give more contact with barrel forend lug. Bobby
