I spent a pleasant day at Hidden Hollow, setting the Bo-Whoop targets and watching the vendors roll in. Typical..... two grouse crossed the road as I drove in. Jay Schacter, John Allgood, Steve Cobb, Jon Hosford, Charlie Spigner are already there. Paul (Foxist) arrived as I was leaving. Jon was telling me he has a new portable/foldup patterning setup he's prototyping at Hidden Hollow. I got to do an early bird on some of the guns that were already on tables.
This year's Bo-Whoop consists of a pair of targets, both from the left. One crossing, one a wide quartering that's higher and starts dropping if you take it as the second bird. We used a laser rangefinder and the second target is just short of 60 yards when I got on it. I tried shooting it both ways with about the same success. I enlisted several gents to proof shoot them too.
Hidden Hollow will be ready to rock tomorrow! Frank

Just arrived in Vestal, NY about an hour and a half ago. Great drive from North Carolina with no problems. 10 hours and 10 minutes exactly, including stops. I'll be there bright and early tomorrow Frank, ready to try my hand at those targets. Looking forward to seeing everyone!

"Games played with the ball, and others of that nature, are too violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind. Let your gun therefore be your constant companion of your walks." - Thomas Jefferson
Good deal Mike, that sounds like you made good time. I'll be at HH bright and early. Also heard from Big Friend Ten who was going to stop by HH on his way to the Parker hotel in Vestal. Mark's probably around there somewhere talking up his big friendly 10 gaugers. Frank

The rain predicted for Friday evening arrived early and we had a few on/off periods of rain today. Mostly off. Many of the shooters get right out on the courses and thus Friday isn't too busy at the Bo-Whoop. We introduced our new Foxy scorer "Taylar" who ran the B-W most of the time, and she did a great job. Taylar is certified to score targets at NSCA registered shoots. Dark skies and windy weather made the targets even more challenging than when they were set yesterday. Net, we had a total of 37 shooters today: high score for practice shooting was Boyd Corliss with 4 ex 10. And high "for score" shooter was Mark Beasland with 2 ex 10. I shot myself - just for practice of course - using a Super Fox and an Ithaca NID Super 10, both with 1-1/4 ounce loads, and thought I did pretty well. But then a gent came up with a Parker 16/30 incher, and did pretty well too using RST loads with 7/8 ounce of 8-shot.
Many Foxes are F/S on the tables, and some interesting ones made their way to our booth today. Our display theme is "XE Grade Foxes" and if I have the count right we have 5 on display. Also, member Scott of NY brought in his special-ordered double trap with MC stock, Ventilated Rib and single trigger. Gun was posted here in the recent past. And would you believe the production mate to this gun walked in today, totally unannounced? The dark horse double trap is 1 serial number under Scott's gun but with double triggers. Some other Foxes trotted in but I wasn't at the tables as much as others, and I missed some of them. If I have it right, one was a factory prototype AE smallbore with Vent Rib. Member Marshfellow has a very interesting and cool display of ex-Fox factory parts and production shop paraphernalia; that's all I want to say because it's his parade. Many Fox members and personalities are here, and as usual the comradery is priceless!
Those of you within driving distance aught to gas up the car and head out here tomorrow or Sunday. I don't have any pics but other members do and I'm sure they'll post some in due course. These evenings while at SxS shoots are way busy. Frank
