First A.H. Fox -16 Ga.
First A.H. Fox -16 Ga.
New member, happily an L.C Smith convert, I purchased first A.H. Fox today as shooter ,Phil.,A grade ,16 gauge, DT, 28" Krupp barrels great shape stamped A.H. Fox Gun Co.Phila PA, engraving sharp, no rust or pits, water table stamped - 1902 very lightly, August 16,1904, August 11, 1905, October 17, 1905 and January 16, 1906, serial number 30051X, POW grip and beavertail forearm appear to be 1940 or 50s replacement stock seems thicker at wrist, no serial stamp in beaver tail. Would like to see pictures of similar vintage gun if some one could point me in correct direction. Case hardening in protected areas only metal is in great shape, screws are excellent. Gun does not look used much. Bought at reasonable cost so custom stock might be next.Need brief tutorial regarding method to post pictures. Does installation of Miller single trigger damage or alter gun?
Had a good month located a excellent condition ejector 16 gauge Utica Sterlingworth with double ivory beads in local old guys safe.
Thanks WPGRIFFON

Re: First A.H. Fox -16 Ga.
Welcome WPG. Just a couple of points in reply. The vast majority of folks here seem to be readers rather than posters. You'll find there's only a handful of regular posters, all of whom have to balance their work and other commitments against answering questions. Many questions are repetitive in nature, and often an answer can be found by doing some reading. Net, questions like yours often don't get an overwhelming response at least here in the public forum.
Some additional points, what you refer to as a POW grip is in fact a "half grip" in Foxese. IME, generally restocked Foxes do not command the value that comparable original ones do. The exception to this are those that have been rewooded in Fox style by noted stockers such as Craig Libhart or Doug Mann - both ACGG members - and that have documentation to that effect. Much of the information you ask about can be found by using the Search tab up in the upper right corner of your screen. For example I did a search of "posting pictures" for you.

Readers please note that there's a great difference between being a registered user, versus being a paying annual or life member. Besides other benefits, members support the Association and this web site, and have access to private Member Forums. Also, when a registered user (not a member) is searching, the information that comes up will only be what's on the public forums, not the private Members Forums. The latter is where a lot of advanced and more detailed information is posted by those who have stepped up to the plate to be members. Silvers

Thanks for the reply, I am a little confused regarding your comment regarding registered user vs paying member. I payed dues via pay pal for one year and mailed a years dues, does it take references or approval by the membership to join?

I think Frank means registered to post on this forum vs a dues paying AHFC member. There is no special recommendation needed .

WPG, the reply by fullchoke16 is correct and I thank him for it; thanks also for signing up from the get-go and clarifying that. I will edit my earlier reply accordingly.
It will take some days for you to be "enabled" to access the Member Forums. We are all volunteers and do this as we have time. That is not in my area of responsibility. You'll know you're enabled when you sign on with your password, and you see the Members areas appear on the index. Silvers
