2012 BO-WHOOP LONG RANGE SHOOT
The guidelines for our 2012 Bo-Whoop Long Range Shoot are now posted in the "AHFCA Events" forum.
This competition is held in conjunction with the Great Northeast Side X Side Classic to be held June 1-3, 2012 at Hausmann's Hidden Hollow Sporting Clays in Friendsville PA (northeast PA in Susquehanna County near Montrose). 2012 is our fifth year for this exciting and challenging side event! Please take note, new for this year are separate "Concurrents" and purse payouts for High Lady Shooter, and for High Youth Shooter. We'll also have three (3) purse payouts for the top three shooters/any gun. And you don't have to shoot with a Fox to bag any of the purses. Here's your chance to show what some of the other makers can do!

Will the Bo-Whoop LRS run for 3 days? or conclude on Saturday?Silvers wrote: This competition is held in conjunction with the Great Northeast Side X Side Classic to be held June 1-3, 2012
Beware the man with one gun...he likely will bore you to death in others ways, too.
Re: 2012 BO-WHOOP LONG RANGE SHOOT
Mike The Bo Whoop shooting will start Friday and conclude at 5:00 PM Saturday. This is a change we made last year so as to not be in conflict with the Main Event on Sunday. Paul

Re: 2012 BO-WHOOP LONG RANGE SHOOT
Thanks for answering Paul. I didn't notice the question until today. That is correct; the Great NE Side by Side Classic will be held June 1-3, 2012. For those who take the magazine, Hidden Hollow has a nice full page advert on page 93 of the current May/June Shooting Sportsman.
Extract from the guidelines posted in the AHFCA Events Forum: Our Bo-Whoop shooting dates are June 1-2, 2012. No B-W shooting on Sunday June 3 due to the NE Classic Main Event being run on Sunday.

Refresh my memory please. How many targets is a round on Bo-Whoop?

Re: 2012 BO-WHOOP LONG RANGE SHOOT
Well, it looks like I'll be making the drive (10 hours of it
) from North Carolina up to Hidden Hollow for the Bo-Whoop. With a little help from Silvers, I was able to find a hotel room and will be heading up that Thursday and probably leaving fairly early on Sunday. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone, and participating in another great SxS Classic!

Re: 2012 BO-WHOOP LONG RANGE SHOOT
Mike,
Make sure you bring that pretty little Sterly with the skeletal butt and I'll bring the A grade I bought from your buddy Tim at the Southern. Would love to shoot with you. You won't regret coming to Hausmann's after your long drive. See you there.

Re: 2012 BO-WHOOP LONG RANGE SHOOT
Thanks Daryl, I'll bring that Sterly for sure, and I'll have my 30" Early A Grade Fox as well, choked Xtra Full and Xtra Full so I can reach out and touch em at the Bo-Whoop! Looking forward to shooting with you again!

Re: 2012 BO-WHOOP LONG RANGE SHOOT
Dave, the Bo-Whoop is five simo pairs (true pairs). Same menu for practice shooting as "for score" shooting.
Mike, that Sterlie should be ideal for Ernie's targets in the woods. He doesn't call it sporting clays; it's more like grouse hunting. You won't find a better shooting partner than Daryl. Be sure to bring a tight choked gun for the Bo-Whoop. But if you're not set for one as yet, there are usually some extra guns there at the shooting butt for tryouts. Yo Daryl, just so you don't draw Mike away too much from the B-W. He promised some help. Other help (signups, pulling, scoring) would be greatly appreciated too! Frank

Re: 2012 BO-WHOOP LONG RANGE SHOOT
Frank,
Count me in for some B-W table time. Be more than happy to help. Maybe this Parker16 guy would help me score at the table?

Re: 2012 BO-WHOOP LONG RANGE SHOOT
Some day I hope to make it from the west coast to shoot at the BO-WHOOP. Until then I will try to set up some practice shots out here. To simulate the long range shot how far out are those targets?
Thanks,
Mike

Re: 2012 BO-WHOOP LONG RANGE SHOOT
MIke, it was good to meet you and your family at the Southern. The Bo-Whoop LR Shoot is always 5 true pairs (simo pairs) = 10 targets, using two traps with fixed arms, no wobble setups. The presentation is changed every year. Generally both traps are hidden so you can't see birds coming off the arms. Presentation is such that quicker shooters will be able to get on the second target at about 50-60 yards. Then ya gotta acquire the target and see the lead, etc. Some shooters will set up to double-barrel the easier target if they miss with the first shot.... bird in the hand rationale.
We have several shooters (who do not compete) proof shoot our B-W targets in advance to be sure they are breakable. Two years ago George Griscom from NJ won the B-W Trophy and our top purse using a 12 gauge 28" SW choked Mod & Full. But last year he came back with a 32" SW to take the win. Also, JD Shank did well - but not well enough - one time with a 16 gauge SW/30 incher probably Full & Full. Just to show that you don't need a Super Fox to be competitive. We had a few 10 gauges competing last year and hope to see more this year, pitted against Ansley's finest and the other makers.
If you want to simulate this setup you'll want to "force" the shooter to take the longer bird, with the second barrel. Frank
