EDITED FOR CLARITY
I'm doing research on an high grade Fox that has a rebated frame and breech ball profiling typical of high grades made ~ 1917 or so. This gun's small lock screw that keeps its front tang screw (screw under the top lever) from moving, is at the 6 o'clock position on the tang screw head (BACK END, toward the butt), not at 12 o'clock (FRONT END, toward the muzzle) as is typical.
I am wondering if anyone has a high grade Fox with a lock screw at back end/6 o'clock, and if so if you would kindly provide details on your gun for my research? At some point I'll do up an article on this gun and of course I'll give you crdeit for the help. Please send me a PM here, or you can write directly to me at silvers897@yahoo.com
Thanks for your consideration. Frank Silvers

Re: Question for owners of Fox X - D - F & Specials
I have pictures or examples of 4 Foxes and one Becker/Fox from that period, all the set screw slots line up straight with the tang screw slot. I guess I would call that 12 to 6 o'clock. I have one example that is a little off but I guess the screw may need a little tightening. I e-mailed a few pictures.

Re: Question for owners of Fox X - D - F & Specials
Craig, many thanks for replying and sending the pictures separately. My original post was unclear and I will edit it. I wasn't talking about the screw slots lining up at 12 and 6 o'clock.
What I was asking about, are high grade Foxes that have the set screw hole drilled and tapped at the BACK END (butt end) of the top tang screw's head. NOT at the FRONT END, toward the muzzles - which is the typical positioning. I would post a pic but I don't have access to the gun right now. Frank

Frank: I understand now, I have never seen the set screw at the 6 O'clock position.

HI-HO Silvers !! As a matter of fact, I have seen that diagram before. It was a warm, muggy June day and the weather wasn't the only
element making us slightly uncomfortable. Sister Gina ( a.k.a.--Lolla Bridgetta) drew something strikingly similar on the black board. The tip was a tadpole- like creature....the big circle was the egg. It was all quite a blur but I do remember the title of her presentation was, "The Immaculate Conception". It was long before my collecting days but I'll never forget the graded "FOXES" in the room that afternoon!!!! LOL......
PS----Did check 2 models from your study group and unfortunately both are early guns , sans set-screw.-----TOOL

On the whole....I'd rather be in Philadelphia....
