What does "folio" on factory cards mean?
What does "folio" on factory cards mean?
This is a novice question, I'm sure. I had a factory card pulled from a 1908 A grade. The card looks a little different than the later cards. There's a field next to the Gun No that says "Folio." This one is marked 12/2. 12ga? Not sure what folio is in reference to. The other fields are self explanatory. It's also interesting that there's no field on the card for choke designations, so I guess I can assume it left as a standard config as opposed to a special request.

Re: What does "folio" on factory cards mean?
In bookkeeping "Folio" is a page number in a ledger. I found several other guns with Folio 1212 on the cards and they were all sold to J.N. Law Co. I also noted that guns that were returned and had the sold to entry crossed out also had the folio number crossed out, with new sold to and folio numbers entered.
