Vintager Report

Post by fox-admin »

Vintagers Update: Well Bo Whoop didn’t show up and neither did the pictures. A major dealer claims the first known GE will make its appearance in a couple of months in a Double Gun Journal article. Just a few of the rumblings going on at the display.
Paul Plunkett (FOXIST) and I manned our display. I had to leave Saturday afternoon to make it home for my 35th wedding anniversary. We both thought the traffic was heavy and better attended than NY. Our booth was right at the entrance to the first tent so our location was terrific. We were busy from opening until closing, at times we had people waiting to speak with us. It was a great experience to meet so many Fox enthusiasts, put names with faces and talk Fox guns straight for three days. Many Fox collectors are not Internet types so it was the first time many heard about our existence. Many collectors brought guns in for an informal show and tell which was great. We had many great guns show up including two 20ga XE’s, a 20ga CE, a 12ga BE, a few custom guns and many very nice Sterlys. I want to thank Paul for his assistance and diligence at the booth; I know he enjoyed himself very much.
The dealers came with more Fox guns than ever. Everything from a DE Special to many small bore Sterlingworths. It seems everyone is looking for a small bore Fox Sterlingworth. I saw many nice A’s, a very nice early BE, a high condition CE, two XE 20’s, and a 12ga XE presentation gun. Don’t ask me who had what because it is kind of a blur. I didn’t “pull the triggerâ€

Thanks for the report Craig---------I was unable to attend this year, but hope to be there next year. David, are you going to Las Vegas for the January Antique Arms Show? If so, I would like to meet with you and show you my Sterlingworth Trap---I have some questions on the barrel markings.

Craig and Paul, great job and a pleasure to meet you both. I am also pleased that I had some nice conversations with Dave Noreen. It was obvious that there were alot of folks who wanted to "talk Fox" as you Boys were visiting everytime I went by. Nice guns, nice weather, we are a fortunate lot. Marshfellow.

Foxist and Admin: Just great to meet both of you and talk Fox's. Pintail Point is a great venue and you guys had a very nice display and set-up. I would hope for many more returns. Dick Baum

Paul and Craig, it sure looks like you made Ansley proud! Glad to see you wore the Fox hats. Sorry I wasn't able to be there. The time just wasn't right for me. Frank

It was great to see the Fox Collectors display and Paul and Craig. Those who could not attend have no idea what they missed. I warned you fellows that a picture of PGCA types in front of the Fox display would fry the camera. Bill Murphy

The gentleman standing next to me is Lefever guru and Lefever and Parker collector Howard Loewensteiner. Howard is one of few people who can make me look tall. I notice a certain similarity in the Vintager clothing chosen by Lefever, Fox, and Parker guys. Bill Murphy

Could someone provide a list of the guns that were on the display table in the 3rd pic along with some basic specs? I can't see a lot of detail but they all look pretty sweet. Any smallbores?

Izzy: We had a 12ga DE, 12ga XE, 3-12ga CE’s early (one straight grip), 12ga CE late, 12ga BE late, 2-12ga A’s late, 12ga Sterly, and various small bore A grades. We switched the guns on display a few times during the weekend.

Thanks Craig. I'm really sorry I couldn't make it. That's a nice variety of Foxes.
