I have a buggered axle set screw that I had to drill out. Does anyone by chance know the thread size?? I am going to use a tap to clean up the threads and replace the set screw. As tight as the axle is I suspect it would stay in place just fine with out the set screw.
Thamks and best regards,
set screws

Re: set screws
I believe I've made them from 5-40 screws, but I wouldn't take accept anybody's opinion if I were going to run a tap into it. I'd want to try it first, so I suggest you try a 5-40 and see if it fits. It probably won't fall out without a lock screw, but it will likely have a tendency to walk out. Maybe not a big deal if you don't shoot it often.
Beware the man with one gun...he likely will bore you to death in others ways, too.

Re: set screws
Yes, 5-40 is the correct set screw. I ran a 5-40 screw in the other axle's set screw hole to verify before drilling out and re-tapping the buggered screw and all went well. Was back to shooting the gun a couple of weeks ago.
Have a great day.
