By the hints doled out by those posters, I think we already know.
I got the card and the gun was FOR: A. H. Fox but I guess it could have been he ordered for someone else (business, friend etc.) does anyone else have a gun that was built for A. H. Fox it sounds like I need something else to prove it was his personal gun Any ideas
how would this have fit in with his reign at Fox? Year wise...
I would think that if it was Ansley's gun himself, they would have put a little gold on it and put his name or initials on it but who knows... that is pure speculation and maybe he did not like that stuff...
the fact that the woman's story and the card matches up is an awful lot of coincidence if he actually ordered it for a business partner.
WOW... you really should write an article for the DGJ or have one of prime member do it if they are willing.

To a Fox collector this just may turn out to be the understatement of a lifetime.
C-W, are you the Cook-Winston gun dealer and are you planning on marketing the gun? If so, I would think that an auction house would bring you your best return. If you are indeed planning on selling the gun, James Julia would be the auction house that I'd be looking at, they have the experience having sold significantly important guns such Bo Whoop and the Czar's Parker, they will properly and thoroughly research it's provenence and bring you top dollar. http://jamesdjulia.com/
"For AH Fox"--Interesting! I posted a question a few months ago asking if anyone knew of a Fox owned by Ansley himself. You would think that this info would have been out there.
yes we are Cook-Winston the gun dealer We did have a gun in the DBJ and Julias auction The Chrysler Gun Winchester Model 21 We just fell into this gun We could have bought it for a pretty good price but I called this morning and told him I thought it was worth a lot more and sent him a copy of the card I think I saw a smile on the other end of the phone Is it OK for a dealer to be on this forum?
Perhaps one way to provide evidence for or against the idea that it was Ansley's gun, rather than a gun he ordered for a friend, would be to compare the stock measurements of the Fox DE to the Parker DH #88807 (1 5/8 x 2 x 14) that H.P. Collins ordered and Ansley apparently shot and sent back to Parker for repair and the Parker BH (1 3/8 x 2 x 14) that Ansley ordered and then cancelled.
If the Fox DE has similar measurements that would support the idea that it was Anlsey's gun, but if measurments vary quite a bit between the Fox and the Parkers then it probably was not his gun.
So what are the stock measurments listed on the factory card?
