Parts

Post by FRBRIT »

I've posted over on the for sale side of the forum and thought I would add it here.

My favorite hunting gun is an A-grade 16ga that I've had the unfortunate luck of the left barrel hammer breaking in two.

I would really appreciate any help I can get in finding a replacement hammer that I can fit to this gun.

I would be willing to purchase a reciever or a beat up gun that could be used as parts.

Any leeds will be appreciated! You can contact me by PM here or e-mail me prehlers@comcast.net or call me 303-589-3551

Thanks,

Could your hammer be welded?

Bill,

More than likely the hammer could be welded for a band aid type fix. The problem with this break is where it's at. It broke in a corner radius thru the pin hole for the pin that retains the push rod for the hammer spring.

The break is very close to the sear notch and I'm afraid that even with heat stop the sear notch could be annealed or warped.

The good new's is I have found a set of hammers thanks to a couple of the members here. I've sent off the check and should have them shortly.

This site is great, I have no idea how I would have gone about finding these Fox parts without wonderful guy's like the members here.

Thanks so much,

Paul

Researcher:

I asked CSM about a year ago and was told they don't sell parts for original guns. I even tried begging with no luck!

Paul:

Glad to hear you found a hammer, no question that's the best solution.
