top tang screw

top tang screw

i went to remove the stock from my fox for the first time and was following the instructions on the home page we tried to remove the top tang screw and it turns freely but is not backing out to remove it any members have an idea? thanks

If the top tang screw is loose,go ahead and take rear tang screw out and trigger plate screw out and try to remove trigger plate.Do not lose the trip spring under trigger plate screw.I have lost several.Bobby

If it turns freely but isn't backing out, it's broken. If so, you should be able to continue with the disassembly.
Beware the man with one gun...he likely will bore you to death in others ways, too.
