Tough Times

Post by Researcher »

Just got a notice from Mr. Beinfeld that the June Las Vegas Antique Arms Show has been cancelled. Not enough firm paid up commitments 60 days prior to show time. The September show is still scheduled for 22 to 25 September, the same time as The Vintage Cup on the other side of the country.

I was at the Ohio Collectors Show and heard a few dealers say the Internet has changed the business. Many sales take place on the the Internet and gun shows are where dealer go to buy guns from walk-ins.
I think gun shows will always exist but the number and frequency will continue to fall due to the Internet marketplace and the rise of large auctions.

As a side remark to this I just got word that the January East Coast Fine Arms Show is moving back to Stamford CT from Greenwich CT. It is a smaller venue as dealer participation has dropped the last few years. But on a positive note the promotor is lowering table prices.
