Fox AE, Fox C, and Fox A

Post by Utah Shotgunner »

Removing white line pad added at some point in the past. What would be appropriate as a replacement?

I saw a 26" 12ga C (no E) with the factory single trigger. On consignment. Whatzit worth?

Same seller had an A (no E) with beavertail and 30" barrels. Looked rough and the engraving while similar to my AE, looked like it was done with much courser engraving tools.

Asking $4k for C

Asking $3k for A

Seems high for the C and obscene for the A.

Utah Shotgunner: Get a letter from Mr. Callahan and see if the original barrel length for the C was 26 inches. a 26 inch C with no ejectors would be a most unusual gun IMO, even so 4K seems a little high unless mint. 3K for an A with no ejectors, even if mint, is high. I assume both guns are 12 bore.

As to the pad, I would use a genuine Silvers properly fitted.

Best Regards, George

Just a reminder that annual and life members (paying members) of the AHFCA get one free card lookup per year; such lookups are usually done within 24 hours at the most, often much sooner. The production card copy is emailed to the member and he/she can use it to confirm/deny barrel length, features as ordered, stock dimensions, etc. Additional lookups are available to members for a nominal fee. Mr Callahan does an excellent job at providing letters that paraphrase the record card (same records we have) but it usually takes 8-12 weeks to receive same, and often that isn't quick enough when you come across a hot Fox deal.

Members also receive other significant benefits. Membership info is on our home page. Silvers

There are quite a few C-Grade guns without ejectors in the early guns and even after ejectors became the standard catalogue offering for C- and higher grades we find guns specifically ordered with extractors. This is a 26-inch C-Grade that weighs in at 6 pounds 5 oucnes --
