BE Krupp 12ga, Gough engraving

Post by james-l »

Here is an early 2nd generation BE 12ga, #22496, I have owned for about a year. It was sad looking originally, the stock had been cut to 12”, the Krupp barrels are now 26 1/2”, Probably shortened by Savage as it has Savage marks on the barrel. I added the 1 ½” pad to bring the pull back tp 14” and cleaned up the stock, it has a couple of coats of Linseed oil now. I have been looking for a set of barrels, but finding a set that will fit is daunting as the original ones are heavier at the barrel extension. The gun is on the heavy side, it weighs 7lb 14oz with the cut barrels. Interesting that I bought an A grade that I was planning to use the barrels, but decided it was too good to part out, its serial is 2496, made exactly 20,000 # before the BE.
