1924 Fox ad

Post by sinned »

Someone on Ebay sells a repro 1924 Fox ad that shows a picture of a man with a sxs in field w/2 setters. I just purchased a Sept. 1919 "National Sportsman" with that picture on the cover but no info about it. Any one have any info ,I'd appreciate any and all.

I bought one of those posters on eBay; I believe I read somewhere that it never appeared as an actual Fox ad but was just something someone put together. Didn't really care; I bought it just cause I liked it. As far as the original image I can't help you; maybe there's an artist's credit somewhere in the magazine?

William Harnden Foster did many covers for that magazine.Seeing the poster I can state it is not his signature nor does it look like his work but I can not make out just whose signatureit is. It should be pretty easy to read it is you have the psoter however.WHF (of "New England Grouse Shooting" and skeet founding fame) did a wrap around cover for NS of an HE being tested out by a sport.

It definately was an A.H. Fox Gun Co. ad. It was inside the front cover of the October 1924 issue of National Sportsman --

Ah! Good to know. Maybe I read that it was not originally a poster, but a magazine ad. Cool image, whichever.
