Forearm split.

Post by corvairkid »

I have a 20 Ga. Savage Fox B in very good to excellent condition.
There is, however, a small crack (less than 1/2 in.) in the front of the forearm.
The finish is in really nice shape.
Any suggestions on what to do?

Spread the crack as far as you can with a small wedge, a sharpened tooth pick should do. The next part is tricky because it involves sneaking your wife's hair dryer down to the shop. Next apply super glue to the crack blowing the super glue deep into the crack with the hair dryer. As soon as you think you have saturated the wood in the crack remove the wedge, wrap the repair with surgical tubing and wipe of any excess super glue with a clean cloth. Next tricky part is sneaking the wife's hair dryer back into the bathroom without her knowing you used it.

Thanks Twice Barrel... I will wait until the wife goes to church today so she doesn't know I've used her hairdryer.

I recently snuck my wife's hairdryer out to dry out a fly reel and a cell phone after an incident we won't go into; it can be done  !
