FOX TEAM wins at the NE SxS

Post by Fox-Events »

Just for information, we received confirmation this morning from Hidden Hollow that TEAM FOX won the team competition again at the NE SxS. This is our second year in a row for first place. TEAM PARKER came in second this year. Looks like the $50.00 from Addieville comes back to Fox.

The team competition is done at the Sporting Clays Main Event on Sunday. 2010 TEAM FOX members were Dick Baum, Larry Johnson, Dick Mider, Paul Plunkett and Frank Silvers. Congrats to our five members for excellent shooting under difficult weather conditions.

Just to clarify, my statement here that it "looks like the $50.00 from Addieville comes back to Fox" was intended to predict what will happen at Addieville next year. That could be read as if there was a formal challenge with Parker for shooting while at at the NE Main Event - which there was not. To Dave/Parker 16, I am sorry I didn't make that point clear.

When signing up for the Main Event the Hidden Hollow management asks what maker's gun you'll be shooting, i.e., Fox, Parker, Smith, etc. After all shooters are in, the top 5 scores for each maker are tallied (sum of top 5 shooters for Fox, etc.) and that becomes that maker's TEAM. We do not have the individual scores nor the collective total, all we know at this point is that our FOX TEAM carried the day!

Last year TEAM WINCHESTER was in second place, Parker shooters are movin up! Hidden Hollow has been using this informal TEAM concept ever since the start of the NE SxS event about 8 years ago. There is a plaque in the clubhouse with the TEAM history over that period.

Congratulations to Team Fox! But to clarify things I was under the impression that the $50.00 wager was an annual event at the Addieville Shoot. I myself didn't realize that we were shooting for money everytime we meet. That being said If we knew we were in competition we would have fielded a team as you guys did. :)

To further explain, the five Fox Team shooters named above didn't shoot together on a single squad. Paul and Frank were on a squad with Craig who had a Fox, and with Mike K who was shooting a Browning BSS S x S. I don't know about the other three Fox Team shooters but I suspect they all were on squads with their friends who were shooting other random guns. Hidden Hollow adds the scores of the top five Fox, Parker, Lefever, Winchester, etc. shooters... no matter who they squadded with, and no matter when they shot the Main Event. The top five scores for each maker, added together, becomes the Team score for that gun maker. Silvers

Well, a Team in spirit, none the less. The win for Team Fox seems to validate "The Finest Gun in the World". Great Going Guys!
