Not as "rare" as 30-inch 20-gauge!! And, downright "common" compared to 32-inch smallbore Sterlingworths. In my over two decades of taking notes, I've recorded four 30-inch 16-gauge Sterlingworths, and only one 30-inch 20-gauge Sterlingworth.

ok i got it, now mind you this was my very first online gun buying expirience, i always said ill never buy a gun without seeing it first-hand, well so much for that one....
heres why i did it i saw an add for a "16ga SMITHWORTH" ASKIN ABOUT $500 SHOULD BE WORTH AT LEAST $800, i looked at the pics and knew imediatly what it was, so i bought it as many of you would of im sure....
its SN 351700 so it was built in 1914 it has 30" barrels but im not sure how its choked, the bores look great no pitting, one small dent on the left barrel, other than that great, the entire gun is original, the wood is marked up and chipped in spots, the reciever is of the pre-cromex type so it has a gray kind of "pitty" looking patina.. the crappy part about the gun is that the screw-hole behind the saftey at some point snapped off, soo the back yard mechanics were called in to fix it resulting in some not so pretty welding, nicley done and very functional though, all in all its gonna be a nice shooter, its got alot of years left in it, if the reciever would have been in better shape it would have gotten a new chunk of walnut, but hey what do you want for $500 right?...
