Our latest custom fox stocked and in the white

Post by Dan Rossiter »

Those of you in attendance at the Southern SxS many have already handled this gun. For those who have not I hope you enjoy the pictures as much as I enjoyed working on this extensive project.

Project Gun:
Fox Sterlingworth ejector 12ga #3 weight 28in barrels

Project Details:
Extensive frame shaping, reshaped triggers, custom trigger guard, reshaped safety button, foreend rounded, Rib struck flat "pigeon style rib", bench made oval forend escutcheon, stocked to client's dimensions with English walnut, foreend one inch longer than factory. and a whole lot of polishing!

Finale weight of gun:
approx 6 3/4 lbs

I need to say a big thank you to Photographer Berle Cherney for taking the pictures of this gun http://berlecherney.com/ and also to Mr. Potter, Mr, Mann and Mr, Fewless for taking the time to discuses and evaluate this project with me at the southern. Your time, advice, and expertise was and is greatly appreciated.

Dan, it's nice seeing the transformation on this fine Fox. I was at your shop right after it arrived, and I've seen her a few times now in various stages of completion. Last time was at the Southern. She sure is a beauty and I know your client is tickled pink.

PS I shot sporting today with Tom R and his restored SW sporting gun. What a knockout piece of wood on her. Barrel bluing work looked excellent and the nitred triggers looked cool. Tom said he'd just picked her up at your shop; and of course he was getting in tune for the NE SxS next weekend. He even let me shoot her. You boys are sure turning out some work! Silvers

Been quite a ride on this one. Here's a few pictures of how the "Abby Gun" (what I call her) started out:

PS. Dan did some exceptional work for sure. Headed to NC next week to meet with Ken Hurst and talk about how to scratch up this thing.

Gun is currently in the white. That is what a very highly polished receiver looks like. After it is engraved it will be sent out for Case Color hardening.

This is the nicest Fox i have seen,I love the casement nickel look, it is so perfect.
Very Nice job in the refinishing area. I have redone a cheap 1952 Stevens double with the same look to it but i am no professional.
Thanks so much for posting this i really enjoyed the pictures and it made my day....
