Gunsmith
I am in need of a Gunsmith to correct a loose safety. It looks like it was broken at one time and fixed. The safety button itself was replaced with something not quite right and it is very loose. Does anyone know of a good gunsmith without a long turnaround. I tried one gunsmith mentioned on this site and sent them pictures but they must be backed up as I have not heard anything from them in months. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Bob,
From my limited experience, most of the good gunsmiths are either not tech savvy (the one I use the most does not own a computer) or if they are, they are so busy they hardly ever get back to emails.
You might start by stating what part of the country you are in, there are several smith competent to fix your safety.

Thanks, I am in Maine but am willing to ship the gun. Most of those I know of in the area...Stephen Hutton, David Trevallion have a long waiting list.....any info on a good gunsmith would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Gunsmith
try Dewey Vicknair at Vicknair restorations. Expect a long wait at any of the good smiths but most will try to fit small projects in where they can.
Cheers!

I also highly recommend Dewey Vicknair. He does email, but it would be best to call him (717-626-4226). He is very good and of course busy, but he has given me reasonable turnaround on repairs and gun evaluations. You will not be disappointed with him or his work.

Re: Gunsmith
Keith Kearcher is prompt at returning e-mails, and also about his work. I found him very easy to work with, and most accomodating. Doesn't mind talking to you on the phone, either. Google him and you can see his website, contact information and photos of work done. Prices have been very reasonable to me.
