Lunchbox?

Post by Jay »

A well known dealer has advertised for sale an "AH FOX C GRADE LUNCHBOX THIS GUN HAS NO SERIAL # AND NEVER HAD ONE".
Is it legal to sell or possess a firearm without a serial number? I've only been around for six decades and have no idea what a lunchbox gun is. Jay

Jay: A "Lunchbox Gun" is one where a Fox worker brought it out one pice at a time. As far as I know it is illegal 6to erase a serial number. I'm not sure if it is illegal to own one that never had one.

Best Regards, George

There was no requirement for a serial number until the Gun Control Act of 1968. Fox Model Bs didn't have one prior to that. I know many .22 rim fire rifles didn't have serial numbers. I'm most familiar with the Winchester Model 67s.

Hope not  ! I own several, and have bought and sold a few without serial numbers, all pre-'68 of course.
