Assembly Question

Post by sidreilley »

I have a Stirlingworth that is currently disassembled - completely. About 10 years ago I repaired a cracked stock and disassembled it to keep the acra-glass compound I was using from possibly getting into the works. It was not too difficult to disassemble but I'm having some trouble getting it back together, the main problem being getting the main springs compressed enough to reinsert the axle pin. What is the trick? Nobody can have thumbs that strong! Is there a tool of some kind to compress these things? The rest of the assembly seems pretty straight forward. I'd really appreciate any advice I could get on this as I'd like to start shooting this gun in some side x side events this summer. Thanks.
