Just a note of appreciation

Post by vaturkey »

After owning Foxes for several years, I've always sent my guns out for cleaning and lubing. Finally decided to use the instructions posted here and am happy to say, I had zero problems in taking the gun apart for cleaning and just as importantly putting it together again. Glad to see I can save a few bucks in the future. PS. Even though I have some very good gunsmith screwdrivers, I didn't have the precise bits recommended. I've since remedied that situation and ordered the one's specified from Brownells this evening. Once again most appreciate the clear directions and the excellent pictures provided. Tom

You're most welcome, Tom; glad to be of assistance. I'm sure you'll appreciate having the right tools for the job.

Still, don't be eager to do it too often as it's impossible to avoid a little wear and tear on the screws evry time you turn them. I don't routinely open up any of my Foxes, even the ones that shoot thousands of rounds per year. I'd only disassemble one if A) there was a mechanical issue (powder fouling can interfere with the triggers) or B) the gun happens to get a thorough soaking; that happens to me on the clays course about once every 2-3 years.
Beware the man with one gun...he likely will bore you to death in others ways, too.

Thanks Mike,

This particular gun I practiced on was a SW that I bought for a project that's not going to happen anymore. It's already got less then perfect screws and a pinned and cracked stock. Therefore, I figured the perfect Fox to attempt my first "check out the insides" so to speak. I list more on the gun in the "Member's only" section.
