The Sterlingworth Co Stamping

Post by ASavageFox »

are all of the "The Sterlingworth Co" stamp guns stamped like this

Odd that its cut off... seems they would have had a jig to ensure the stamping was located in the exact same spot everytime.
Cheers!

The stamping looks like all I have seen. Yours looks like a rounded action panel style versus the more common standard pointed panel. Is your gun stamped Wayne Junction or Philly??

No. They usually positioned the roll-stamp a bit better.

This March 1910 gun has the rounded side panels.

it was a philly address and I did not think it was the rounded front but I am not sure... picture might be a little hard to tell from also. the gun is no longer mine, I sent it back to the seller: despite the fact that he clearly said in wrting to me that all numbers matched... the forearm was numbered about 10,000 serial numbers off and the forearm latch was mangled to make it all work... seller plead ignorance and said he was just regurgitating what the seller that he got it from told him.... waste of my time and likely some of my money but it was my first chance to look over a "The Sterlingworth Co" gun.

I just thought it was odd that the stamping was cut off by the border engraving.

Thanks Dave, the left side of the one that I posted was positioned better but of course it is going the other way.

The rounded bullet placed way back on Dave's gun is very Becker like. My project pigeon gun will be shaped exactly like that.
