sloan's sporting goods
Does anyone know if there might be any sales records still existing from Sloan's Sporting Goods of Ridgefield, Conn.and New York, like Griffin and Howe has with A&F? I remember them advertising big up until I think about 1965 in the American Rifleman. I remember it was at one time owned by the Walzer family. Also I am looking for anything similar on the J.K.W. Southwick Sporting Goods store from Newport, R.I. I have Googled some and can't seem to hit the right information. I have two Foxes and a Model 21 that I can trace that far. I was hoping you guys back East might have better area knowledge. Thanks, Lee.

Re: sloan's sporting goods
Recently, someone posted the full history of the Shoverling, Daly, and Gales and Sloan's and other companies who were involved in that progression. I don't remember where I read it. I have never heard of any existing Sloan's records.

Bill, I saw that also---- it may have been Drew Hause on the LCSCA site.

Re: sloan's sporting goods
Thanks for posting. Sloan's sold some wonderful guns to interesting people, but I suspect that we will never know the details. I once lettered a Parker DHE 16 to Sloan's that was owned by Annie Laurie Crawford, whose guns were auctioned in London a few years ago. She inherited about seventy million US dollars before she married into money. She had some great guns, some of them apparently from Sloan's.
