Odd Stamp on barrels

Post by Researcher »

Sometime back, someone (sorry I didn't note who) posted this picture of an odd stamping on an A.H. Fox barrel flat --

Now that stamp has appeared on a barrel lug over on the Shotgunworld web site, posted by one Patriot usa --

Any fresh guesses?

I would have said maybe a police department but then what would they need with a graded gun (and does that 3 indicate 3 sets of barrels?)
Cheers!

I probably would have thought it was a Savage proof stamp.

I think you may well be right. Most of us are use to an SP in an oval as "Savage Proof". But, I could certainly see the big S being for Savage and the P and T for Proof Tested.
