blued forearm metal

Post by ASavageFox »

What serial range did this happen on? Was it just S/W or also graded guns? Saw what appeared to be a blued forearm metal on a B grade recently.

Thanks
Cheers!

It seems to go back and forth. My guns are all packed in the safes right now. I know we have discussed this before, but I didn't save the answer. I seem to recall that on most Savage-era Fox-Sterlingworths the forearm iron is case colored. I do recall that when I did the article in The Double Gun Journal on serial numbr 35 that the forearm for one set of barrels was case colored and the other blued. I will say that I've never seen one reblued that didn't look it.
