Early B grade 28"

Post by waterman »

Hey guys I am looking at an early B grade gun no ejectors all there just like it left the factory. From a collector stand point how much does it hurt the gun not to be a BE it is just a B . Second question the man said one screw had bean turned just a little. Third question the gun has 28" barrels F/IC most guns I have see are 28" M/F or F/F. What is the odds on the choke been opened some and does this hurt the gun. I guess I am nit picking but I just like my guns to be all there when I buy any help please. You guys have been a big help in the past thanks Donnie Reels.

On certain sites I have seen dealers add as much as a $1000.00 for ejectors (of course these guns are still listed after several months) but I would think that the difference between an ejector gun and non ejector gun of the same condition would be in the 10 - 15 percent range. As far as the chokes go I would want to shoot some patterns before simply relying on some choke gauges. Even if they do turn out to be IC and Full that is a pretty useful combination and I have a 1935 Sterlingworth with 26 inch barrels that are choked that way.

Y'all could have the serial # checked in the members forum to see what the chokes were when the gun left the factory. Plus other useful info.
This is a valuable service for Fox members.

Whether an early gun has ejectors or not is a wash as far as I'm concerned.

I have a CE that factory letters with that choke.

Presonally, I'd pay a pretty small premium for ejectors... mostly b/c I believe the market value for ejectors is higher but it really makes little difference to me... and if they get out of time and don't funtion they can be expensive to work on from what I am told.
Cheers!

I have an early A grade, SN 798X, with 28 inch Krupp barrels that seem to be choked IC and F. A great combination in my opinion.

By the way, I bought that gun 41 years ago last month, September 1968. All original and wood to metal and metal to metal fit that's fantastic. A real Classic and a gorgeous Fox.

Thanks for all the post on the B grade the serial # 10155 it looks all there to me just the right amount of wear. For what I can tell it really doesn't matter if the gun has ejectors or not. I plan on making an offer Friday of this week if anyone has any more views on the gun or grade please let me now. Does anyone know how many B grades were out there thanks Donnie.

Donnie, I hope this comes across as a helpful suggestion which is my intent. Your're gonna get a lot more information on that early B grade by being a member and posting its serial number on the Members Forum where one of us can verify the card specs for you. That's not an option if you're not a member. Also, our Newsletter archive is on the Members Forum and there is a heck of a good article on B grades written by Craig in the Fall 2008 newsletter. Just my personal opinion but anyone who's a regular "registered user" should consider becoming a member; currently only $25.00 per year for access to much increased resources.

I can cite many examples where the $25.00 cost to help fund this website and the AHFCA saved someone big time on a goofy gun that they were considering buying. Nuff said. Frank
