Thanks for keeping in touch. Mine is 1911 stamped on the metal. Looks like a little coil spring in the slot.

Re: Sterlingworth pin gun fore end question
Yippy, Got it out with not alot of effort. No spring, seems all inclosed. Looks like I'll have to set the entire metal piece a little deeper so the wood will come closer to the barrels. Should not be to big of a deal. Should really be cake compared to what I have been through on this project. What t...

Re: Sterlingworth pin gun fore end question
Bobby, Thanks for the help, I'll see if I can solve the problem. Having a little trouble getting it apart. I had a internal crack in the stock head. Glass bedded a staple in the stock and the glass bedded the receiver. Had a little left over so thought I would strengthen the wood fibers in the forea...

Sterlingworth pin gun fore end question
When I snap the fore end on my Sterlingworth there is a little gap between the wood of the fore end and the barrels. I wonder how much space should be there and if and how it could be corrected. I'm talking tight at the rear at the receiver, and about 1/8 inch to the front. Tell me what you think. T...

The Presidents gun!
Had the opportunity to see The President's gun in Cody, Wyoming. Must say it was beautiful. Said it was the most valuable piece in the museum. Could see some little marks he put on it while in Africa. At least that was a possibility. The inlays and engraving were unbelievable. Read alot about it, so...

Re: Fox Stocks and corrugated nails ???
I have one my SW pin gun 1912, I did not prevent the stockhead from cracking on the side away from the safety hole. I was able to put staple in without removing the factory fastener. Maybe helped prevent a more serious crack that would be visible on the outside. My crack was on the inside only. I ag...

Re: reassembly question on a Fox Sterlingworth
Can you rotate and adjust the trip pin with the gun fully assembled, or do you have to adjust the trip pin before you start to reassemble. Make any sense?

reassembly question on a Fox Sterlingworth
Was wondering if there was any trick to getting the trip pin in the right position upon reassembly? I had no trouble following step #2 listed below. Now my lever is to the left and want to get the trip pin in the right position without putting it together wrong. Any advice? 2) Applying pressure on t...

Want to thank all of you for your help. Hope to post some before and after before to long. Started by repairing the stock and ended up doing more than expected. Long winter project. I better hurry before I get to old and can't enjoy it. LOL
Hope you all have a good day!

Re: Stock refinished
What are your thoughts on Danish oil and rubbed with 600 grit sand paper? Is True Oil a quality product for refinishing a Fox stock?? I like the oil but will only do it once on this gun. Any advice? I would appreciate it. Heh Steve where do you get rotten stone??

Re: Safety resets after each shot
I was reading where Teddy Roosevelts beauty was taken apart once and that was to remove the auto safety rod so the article stated. Guess He didn't like the auto safety either. I'm going to leave mine out when and if I ever get it back together.

Re: cleaning a fox shotgun
Now that I have the butt stock off. Would there be anything that I could do to cleaning the action without taking it any further apart. Soaking? Air hose? etc?
Thanks,
Clay

Re: Stock removed Now What?? Pictures/Crack
Steve, I'll have to save my money. I'll keep looking, never know when something will show. I'm cleaning my action really good before I bed it. Seems to be some junk from the ages. Going to give the barrels the 0000 bronze rub like you suggested. It should make it look pretty nice. Can't believe a Fo...

Re: Stock removed Now What?? Pictures/Crack
Steve, I have had alot of satisfaction in this project. Really scared at times, but things seemed to work out. Not sure what type of finish. Need to learn some about that also. I like the hand rubbed oil. I have a few dents to steam out if I can. The recoil pad will give me the length that I need. C...
