Dave,
There are two AH Fox Sterlingworth (Phila) 16 ga. sxs's on Gunrunner Auctions--a 26" , serial No. 352406, and a 28", serial number 361406. Can you tell me when they were made?

Re: Fox Sterlingworth Info. Help
According to the table in the Blue Book of Gun Values, the 16 ga Sterlingworth, serial no 369527, was made in 1934

Amount of Extractor Extension?
I recently bought a 16 ga. Utica-Fox Sterlingworth with extractors. When barrels are opened the extractors extend out only about 0.18 inch. However, the extractors can be pulled out manually to about 0.26 inch. Is that typical for this type of gun? With the extractors extending only about 0.18 inch,...

Front trigger - Right Barrel, Why?
These are probably dumb questions, but any theory as to why the front trigger shoots the right barrel and the back trigger shoots the left barrel on SxS's? The front trigger is on the right relative to the back trigger, which makes sense because it is more in line with the right barrel. However, is ...

Mike,
Just checked the details on Able's Free Shipping promotion. Unfortunately, it excludes ammo.

Re: Best Place to Buy Federal and Fiocchi Shells on Line?
It's not cheap, but you can get Federals delivered to your door for <$80 a flat, this weekend only.... http://www.ableammo.com/catalog/default.php?cPath=10480_14626_11576_16378&sort=3a&page=1 I just checked the Able web site. Two flats of Federals would be $157.20 ($7.86/box). Add UPS Groun...

Re: Best Place to Buy Federal and Fiocchi Shells on Line?
Mike, Great idea about partnering with someone. 16 ga. RGL's are $5.97 here. A couple of months ago I asked the the department manager if she could order a flat or two of RGL's from their warehouse for me, and she said she was not allowed to do it. Perhaps that is a carry-over from when center fire ...

Re: Best Place to Buy Federal and Fiocchi Shells on Line?
Thanks for the suggestions. I had taken dad's 16 ga. Stevens SxS hammer gun a gunsmith to replace the hammer springs. I gave him 15 Remington Game Loads (RGL's) that I bought about 3 years ago. He just called to say that after doing the work and test firing it, he had 3 X 15 FTF's with my shells, al...

Best Place to Buy Federal and Fiocchi Shells on Line?
I recently shot 1oz. factory Remington, Winchester, Federal and Fiocchi Game Loads to see how they pattern and to check POI of my "new" 16 ga. Utica-Fox Sterlingworth. While all four brands fired OK, I noticed distinct differences in the amount of firing pin penetration. Just eye-balling t...

Re: Doing your homework (shipping precautions)
I just bought a 16 ga. Utica-Fox Sterlingworth. It is not valuable ($1350 incl. shipping) but I was very impressed with how the seller packaged it for shipment using FedEx Ground. He put the stock assembly wrapped in several layers of bubble wrap in one triangular FedEx box and the assembled barrel ...

Re: Utica-Fox Sterlingworth-Quoted Price Reasonable?
This is a repeat of my post on the Technicana forum. I shot my 16 ga. Fox Sterlingworth, 28" barrels choked .006/.012, for the first time today. Using the hood of my pickup and 4 towels as a rest, I shot 4 patterns from each barrel at 20 yds with 1 oz game loads to check POI. By inspection, bot...

Reseacher,
Thanks for re-posting the serial numbers. When did A.H. Fox stop making Phila. Sterlingworths, and when did Savage Arms Corp. start production of Sterlingworths in Utica?

Re: References to Utica-Fox Sterlingworths?
Mike, The chart on the link you provided is very confusing. It lists 16 ga. A.H. Fox Sterlingworths for 1912-1940, serial numbers 300075 to 303875. It also lists 16 ga. A.H. Fox Sterlingworths for 1913-1938, serial Numbers 351000 to 374800, followed by the entry: A. H. Fox Highest Number 378481. Are...
