ANSLEY H FOX stamp on early style A grade guns

Does anybody know if it is possible to replicate the "ANSLEY H FOX" name on early style engraved A grade guns? I assume it is a stamp anyway, as the letters are deep and perfectly engraved like "STERLINGWORTH" engraving. I was wondering if anybody had any ideas as to how to repli...

wood to metal

Gentlemen: I have $15,500 in the gun, but they are more expensive now. Based on their website listed prices the gun with options would now cost $18,650. The wood is slightly proud to the frame, but it is intentional. It is exactly the same everywhere the wood and metal meet, as was suggested, to all...

Forend loop

I am guessing that it is the forend loop, the lug on the barrels that engages the forend iron to keep it in place, that has come adrift. It can be very difficult to get the loop solidly soldered without loosening one or more of the ribs. The short rib is likely to be loose already, a product of the...

Fox Date of Manufacture

Researcher: Thank you. That was most helpful. After looking at the list I am slightly confused. I have a SW with the SN 262443. The barrels say Philadelphia and the frame side has "Sterlingworth" rather than "Fox Sterlingworth," but the list would seem to suggest that the gun was...

SW Year of Manufacture

Can someone tell me where if there exists a guide to determining what year a Fox was manufactured by providing the serial number?

Thank you.

Upgrade vs. CSMC

Seems to me to a 'apples vs. oranges' debate. On one hand, the CSM route is a full service, built to spec, full lifetime warranty, 'you point, we build', purchase with all the 'best gun' kinda perks. Basically, you're treated like you're spending a lot of money....cause you are. It's available to a...

Fox

Bonasa: Just the new steels available today make the CSMC a better choice---think of all the problems with shells that will be eliminated. You also get to pick the wood, the barrels, the engraving, and modern metals that make a gun that will last another hundred years. If you can afford the CSMC gu...

If only $2000 less that would be a no brainer, but if there is only a $2000 difference you must have had David Trevallion and Winston Churchill providing estimates. I know you can get a Philly Sterlingworth upgraded to a comparable CSMC Fox CE standard for more than $8000 less--maybe even $9000 to ...

Upgrade Fox vs. New Fox

I was comparing the cost of a new CE with the cost of having a Philadelphia Sterlingworth upgraded to CE. I came up with about $2,000 more for the new gun. I like the idea of new barrels and the CSMC warranty but I was wondering what the opinion of more knowledgeable Fox owners would be? All opinion...

barrel weight?

Can someone please tell me what the bbl weight means? I am looking at a Fox SW with a #3 bbl weight. I would like to know what the bbl weight range is and what I should be looking for.

Thank you.

DE Special

I received my Fox DE Special last week and couldn't be more pleased. It is a 20 bore, with 29" bbls, DT, SS, Splinter foreend, leather recoil pad, FE grade checkering and exhibition wood. The game scene engraving was done by Richard Roy. The gun feels incredible with a weight of only 5 lbs, 11....
