This is all very helpful. The photo Silvers posted shows an identical scallop and also shows the same placement of the front sight.

He also mentioned that the slight champhered area at the top end of the barrel rib was not factory.
Any ideas on the absent cross hatching?

I have the letter and tag that state 14 inch with no mention of a butt plate or pad and barrel length of 26, these measure 25 - 29/32

I have a couple of questions someone may be able to answer. I had a respected gunsmith check out my 20ga. XE. He told me that the barrels had been dressed or trimmed. Tag says 26 inch, barrels measure 3/32" under. I am reading from some other posts that this is not uncommon from the factory. He...

In another post, I was told about an article in the spring 2002 DGJ. I ordered a copy. The article says about 120 of the XE's were 20ga.

Probably is just bad pictures. I wonder where Cabellas gets all these guns? It would be fun to see them all.

My knowledge is limited to pictures I have seen on this forum and my own gun, but if that stock is typical of a newer model Fox, you can have them.

I believe it was given to my grandfather. He was an avid quail hunter but the gun was really too small for him and he didn't use it much. He always shot an Ithica pump I think. I have a 20 ga. XE I inherited from my grandfather 35 years ago. I have long thought of adding an insurance rider and am looking for advice as to the value.
