What value on a 12ga Sterlingworth action?

Only piece missing is the cocking slide. 1916-17 production if I read the list correctly. No wood, no barrels, not forend. Just the action with all internals (except the slide) and trigger guard. In the white, with some case color remaining on the action flats. Not sure whether to make an interestin...

Re: Question on 16ga Sterlingworth choke dimensions.

What is the barrel length and how far from the muzzle does the choke constriction begin? .035 is a pretty tight constriction for 16 gauge but you really have to shoot some 40 yard patterns on paper and count pellets with the ammunition you intend to use to get a positive evaluation of choke constri...

Question on 16ga Sterlingworth choke dimensions.

Picked up a 16ga. Sterlingworth last weekend at an auction. Bores too large for my smaller Skeets gauge and my larger gauge, barely fits through the chokes. Measured them several times, but the choke constriction may not be perfect. Rt Barrel: .662" Bore - Choke .035" Lt Barrel: .662"...

Re: Sleeved CE - Hit on valuation?

As price is totally based on the amount a seller is willing to take and the buyer is willing to pay, the percent of hit would be hard to put a number on. The gun is very nicely done and that is a plus. Understood. I am needing a ballpark range, so if the owner decides to consign it, I have a starti...

Re: Sleeved CE - Hit on valuation?

If the bluing could be matched on the old chamber portion and the new barrels that sleeving job would be nigh on undetectable. Utah Shotgunner, tell me that gun has short barrels, pulleeeeeze! SRH Stan, 30" is short, right? (Wasn't that LC 10ga 32"?) Barrels have been reblacked. The joint...

Re: Sleeved CE - Hit on valuation?

Where are the sleeve marks? Who sleeved it? It's a great looking gun. Just ahead of the text on the top of the barrels. http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc120/Marksman60/SHOTGUNS/AH%20Fox%20CE%2012ga/20141210_102916_zps9afde752.jpg Not sure who did the sleeving. Have it in my shop to re-black the...

Re: Sleeved CE - Hit on valuation?

Collectable guns are valued for high original condition. At best Briley chokes will not lower the value but in most cases probably do! Mark Understand that value is based on condition, that was the basis for this question. Yes, typically Briley's in a classic gun would affect value, but when the ba...

Sleeved CE - Hit on valuation?

What are your thoughts on the % hit in valuation a CE would take for having sleeved barrels? I'll have it out of the safe later today and will get specifics and a couple of pictures. Barrels also have Briley thin wall chokes, but it doesn't seem that they would now have an impact on the value. Thank...

Re: 20ga CE s/n 30X929 I may have your original buttstock.

I believe however that would be a 16b with a a 30X,929 serial #. Deceased gunsmith shop this came from wrote "20ga A. Fox" on the end of the butt. I compared it to another stock from the same sale marked "16ga Fox Sterlingworth # 357XXX" (X's by deceased 'smith) EDIT: Just found...

20ga CE s/n 30X929 I may have your original buttstock.

"X" is not intentional. Looks to be double struck and depending how you look at it, it could be 2-3 different numbers.

Reuniting the stock with the gun seems a better outcome than selling it on Gunbroker.

20 ga Savage "Fox Sterlingworth"

Looked at one this morning. s/n: 266174 28" barrels. Muzzles did not touch and there were no apparent keels. Barrels: R: .618" Choked .015" L: .629" Choked .040" I forgot to pay attention to the length of the chokes, so with this information what could you tell me about the ...
