Hello All,

I am happy to say that my C-grade is safe and sound in my care and I am elated to finally have it (I will post some pictures soon since the first few I had weren't very good quality). I had the dealer who received the transfer take a look and he thinks that it is in excellent condition and should be ok to fire. With that said, I was hoping to grab a bit of advice. The Gentleman at the FFL sold me a couple boxes of Federal - Game load ammunition at 3 1/4 oz. I wanted to verify with you all that this would be a good ammunition to fire, and if not, what I should purchase instead. Obviously I want to keep the gun in as good a condition as it has remained for so long, but I am also anxious to take it out and shoot trap with it.

Congrats on your new Fox!........I would not fire the Federal ammo your dealer sold you! I would look at the RST website and find some low pressure loads. If not I would at least use some Remington STS Lights or AA Light 1 oz Target loads.

Thanks for the input, more specifically I have a couple boxes of Federal H-121 8. Do you have a link for the RST website or could steer me in the right direction? This is a new one for me.

Look like there arent any sellers around me for the RST so I may take your advice and looking into some Remington STS ammo since thats convenient for me. Too bad ive got 2 boxes of useless shells now

........dont feel bad, the shells arent useless, you just got yourself a good excuse to buy another gun. Order the RSTs, you wont be disappointed.

Is there a specific RST shell I should buy. I thought the Best grade 2 1/2 inch lite #8 seemed to fit but I'm not totally sure

RST will mix shells in a case shipped to your door. That includes different shot sizes, and paper & plastics. Their 12 gauge Lite 2-1/2" shells are excellent. If you want to spend a few bucks more, the paper offerings are more traditional. RST travels to many of the major SxS shoots with a big truck and/or trailer, and sell shells there sans shipping cost. I know the RST folks will be leaving early next week for the Southern, so if you want the shells fairly quickly you may want to call the office this week. Nothing easier; just use your credit card. All the folks there are SxS shooters and they'll help with your selection if you need advice. Silvers

Terrific! You guys have been a great help. I was able to snap some more pictures last night as well. Oh, and a correction, the serial on my gun is 17716, not 1771 which I believe puts the production at 1911 as opposed to 1906 and also accounts for the engraving being of the birds/dog instead of the scrollwork:

We don't have a picture of that style safety in our Safety Slide Styles section on the home page. This gun has the same safety slide as my March 1910 The Sterlingworth Co. gun.

Also, the annotations on that Safety Slide Styles page are screwed up. The first picture there is my 1906 C-Grade, then there is another, I believe C-/CE-Grade, but the annotation is for my 1912 BE-Grade which is below that annotation.
