Any Idea What Grade This Might Be?

Post by Canuck »

I have a chance to purchase this and was wondering what grade it is? There is a B stamped on the water table. Would it be a B grade? Was there such a grade? It appears to be 100% original, 28" Krupp fluid steel bbls choked F/F. Nice wood but wrist is cracked through. Looks like an old crack. Barrels chime, lever well right of centre, gun is tight to face, locks up solid.4 digit serial #. Any idea of value?

It's an early style B most likely 1905/06. See here: https://foxcollectors.com/fox-gun-grade ... -directory

The workmanship on these early guns from Wayne & Bristol Streets is top notch but being all 12-gauges, they don't seem to do all that well in the marketplace. From the first A.H. Fox Gun Co. catalog --

The earliest B-Grades didn't get that little burst of engraving on the breech ends of the barrels, but it appears by the 12xx range. In a few cases we see that little burst engraving in place of the normal triangle of scroll on the C-Grades when they first went to the oval with birds replacing the banner --
