Good morning,

I am hoping to purchase my first fox at an upcoming auction and had concerns about minimum barrel thickness.

I grew up shooting a Parker 20 ga from 1907 but I took it to Mr. Merrington a few years back and he said it would not be safe to shoot.

Being that my boy is getting to the age where he will be learning to shoot I was hoping to have him have similar experience as I did.

The gun in question is serial number 202714

Here are the numbers from the auction site

Welcome Dano. Kudos to you for wanting to get your son a 20 ga. Fox. It’s a wonderful little gun and I hope you send us pictures of him with a rabbit or whatever game you pursue. Many of us like to reminisce about the “good old days” when we hunted with their dad or grandfather. If you get him the gun you’ll be creating his “good old days”.

IMO those are pretty thin. I would want to know where exactly they are that thin. If it's before where the choke constriction starts I would not be concerned. If it's 10 from the breech I would be more concerned. I am guessing that gun might have 4 weight barrels and they can be pretty darn thin.

They are indeed 4 weight, they seemed thin to me as well. Guess I’ll still be on a hunt for one.
