Today the Hosford Cup took place near Dexter, MI. The Ann Arbor Moose Sportsman Club is the host club for this great event and Dana Farrell and all of the volunteers from the club do a great job putting on this excellent shoot.
The AHFCA once again sponsored the High Gun award for those shooting a Fox gun. Our very own Jeff Stegmier (Steggy) and Dana Farrell (Grade III) tied with a 75 each in the 100 target main event. To determine the tie we went with the longest run and Jeff came out on top with a 16 bird run. Congrats to Jeff who was shooting his C Grade 12 gauge for the High Gun award and to Dana who was shooting his trusty 12 gauge Sterlingworth Pin gun for the Runner Up award.

Thanks Don. Knee rehabilitation is a long process, but it’s definitely getting better.

Congratulations to Jeff and Dana. Glad to see your knee is on the mend and you can pull the trigger. I'd love to make the shoot but here's a thanks to Dana and Brett for showcasing the Fox guns.

And speaking of representing the Fox Nation…. It should be mentioned that our Executive Director, Brett Farley, shot a perfect 5 out of 5 at the Long Bird shoot. Brett was using his uber cool 12 ga, 32” vent rib, double barrel Trap gun. Regrettably, another gentleman using a Model 21 “Duck” also shot 5, and the Brett lost in a tie breaker. Mighty fine shooting Brett.

I think there were 40 participants. The main event was 100 birds (50 birds at two different 5-stand courses). The “Don’t Shoot the Hen” was a blast. I had a great score going until one hen flew a little too close to the rooster. I got the rooster, but the hen also took a hit.

Out of the 40 shooters 9 were shooting AH Fox guns. The Don’t Shoot The Hen side game was a hoot!!! Steggy had a terrific shot on a pair of clays that didn’t separate with the orange target sitting on top of the hen (yellow clay). The shot broke the rooster (orange) clay and the yellow (hen bird) flew away unscathed. It was crazy!!!Jeff S wrote: ↑Sun Aug 16, 2026 1:36 pmI think there were 40 participants.
