Re: They Come Around Again
I met Ed in Leesburg Va at a small gunshop named Nimrod I believe. He was there talking to the owner who had quite a collection of vintage gun related books that Ed was trying to purchase to prep in writing another book. I had just looked at his book "Old Reliable" that was for sale at a nearby table. I looked at the back cover and there was a picture of Ed. I looked at the book again and looked back at Ed and my feeble brain made the connection. I walked over with book in hand and asked if he would sign it and he did indeed and the book is still here in my bookcase. He was quite kind. Nimrod closed down shortly thereafter. I think the year was 1999.

Re: They Come Around Again
Bill Moravek's Nimrod Gun Shop in Leesburg was a wonderful little shop on the main street downtown. Bill was an interesting character; he and his son ran a couple of high-end photography stores in Washington DC for several years. Bill was very knowledgeable about British and European guns and always had some captivating smallbore Britishers for sale in his shop.
We became good friends and I repaired a number of gun cases for him over the years and also wound up taking him Sora rail hunting On the Maurice river in New Jersey, which he pronounced one of the most esoteric and uniquely American forms of game bird shooting he had ever experienced. (This coming from a guy who had hunted all over Great Britain, Europe and Africa). Bill closed the Nimrod shop and moved to FL several years after his wife died, and did some mail order business thereafter for a few years.
Bill was very close friends with Glen Baker, owner of Woodcock Hill, another very small but very good custom gun shop In PA focusing on British and European guns. Together they sponsored driven shooting in the UK and Europe for many years. On the way home from one of these trips, Bill dropped dead after clearing customs at JFK airport in NY. Glen Baker passed away I believe in the Spring of 2020. I think Woodcock Hill is still in operation.
NOTE: If you have an interest, I posted an extensive version of the above on the PGCA Forum; if you 'Search' Glenn Baker/Woodcock Hill it will show up. Kevin
